Nina Laden's illustrations in this simple, rhyming board book are truly magical. The format is straightforward: on alternating two-page spreads, the words "Peek a" are repeated, opposite an illustrated page with a die-cut hole, behind which lurks a cow ("MOO!"), a green ghost ("BOO!"), and a mirror (you guessed it, "YOU!"). The youngest readers will delight in trying to guess who--or what--is peeking through the window, and can easily grip the baby-fist-size holes to turn the pages for the answers. The picture of the "ZOO!" is fabulous. Through the hole, all that can be seen is a wild pattern of colors, stripes, and spots. He is fascinated with it....before my wife turns the page, she says "peek a who" louder and louder....you should see his face ! He moves his body and turns his head to see the other side of the book.......anticipating her flipping the page. So funny ! Great book.

We love this book! Right after we took it out of the box, we read it and LOOOOOVED it! My 6 1/2 month old son smiled and giggled at each page, eager to see what was next. I can't wait to see what else this author has!

My son has loved this book for well over a year. He is 22 months and still loves it. I have to buy another copy since he spent his time teething with this book. I don't get too tired of reading it either. You will love it!
