Amazon.com Review
It's impossible to resist the charms of picture book pals Dog and Bear. Where Dog (a frisky daschund) is brave and boisterous, colorful stuffed animal Bear is shy, and--much like the beloved curmudgeons Frog and Toad have for generations--their playful misadventures illustrate the joys of having a best friend at your side. Young readers will delight in these clever little vignettes and marvel as they watch Dog and Bear animate each page with big, bold color and expression. Take a look at a sample of pages from Dog and Bear below--or listen to author Laura Vaccaro Seeger read from the book at the top of this page--and discover a new reading treasure that would inspire any child to plead (as Dog does to Bear), "Read to me!"

5 out of 5 stars Touching and funny book   March 21, 2008

I am always on the look-out for children's books that make ME laugh - if by some chance THIS is the book that my child will want me to read 5 million times a day, then I won't have the urge to throw it out of the window at an opportune moment!
It is a loving, sweet and subtle funny book, which I would definitely recommend.

I read this to my kindergarten and first grade classes and they all made me read it to them again! Of course, you have to give Dog and Bear their own funny voices! :) I love this book. The illustrations are adorable--they remind me of my own doxie.

The quality and style of the artist's work in this book was amazingly awesome. I think that the characters in Dog and Bear are really great and I wish that there were more Dog and Bear books. They remind me of feelings that I have sometimes and I've also got a best friend like dog so I understand how bear feels. I really like this book a lot.

The amazing thing about this book is that it manages to capture the essence of true friendship very quickly and with so few words. With a child's sensibilities in mind, Seeger creates an instant classic. Buy this book along with Frog and Toad and George and Martha.

2 out of 5 stars An ok, cartoonish book for kids   December 10, 2007

My 2 1/2 year old was a bit cool to this book... one of the 'stories' is a bit odd for a kids book (about the bear reading the book dog&bear, that he is in). I liked the 'lesson' in the first story about trying even if you are scared, as did my son. Overall, the set up of the book (in 3 very very short sections) and the cartoon panel like story board didn't really impress me or my little expert.
