A thoroughly 'user friendly' guide to two hundred of the most popular children's picture books, "What Should I Read Aloud? is knowledgeably compiled and expertly presented by academician Nancy A. Anderson (University of South Florida - Tampa) for use by parents and teachers seeking to preschool second grade level children with entertaining story-telling and the joys of reading. Of special value are the first two chapters devoted to providing advice on how to best share books with young children and how to help children to develop and practice their own reading skills while doing so. Chapters 3 through 6 are organized by suggested age levels and featuring picture books for children from birth through age 8. Chapter seven advises on supplementing bestsellers with multicultural literature, nonfiction, magazines, and websites. Of special note are the comprehensive indexes for locating subjects, as well as authors, illustrators, and titles.
